Revision Notice

This is a full specification revision, superseding all prior versions. Three changes from the original specification: (1) the sculptural shell changes from FRP composite to layered bronze-resin composite (~70% bronze content by weight) over a steel frame, finished in a patinated matte surface; (2) the twisted center bridge module (B1) is retained but substantially reduced in scale — a small connective form (approx. 40 × 40 × 50 cm) where the two bulbous masses meet, rather than the long span described in earlier concept versions; and (3) all overall dimensions and the module breakdown are corrected and rebuilt from a verified, independently engineered gallery-scale specification (120 cm height), scaled 2× to reach the confirmed monumental height of 240 cm.

Dimensions, module structure, weight, and material figures below are now considered final and traceable to a verified engineering source. Structural load calculations, anchoring specifications, and installation logistics specific to fabrication should still be confirmed with a structural engineer prior to fabrication, as final tolerances and safety margins depend on the selected fabricator’s methods.

Reference Dimensions

Final, verified — scaled 2× from an independently engineered 120 cm gallery-scale specification.

  • Total Height: 240 cm
  • Total Length (Front to Back): 450 cm
  • Total Width (Side to Side): 225 cm
  • Number of Modules: 10
  • Number of Legs: 6
  • Shadow Gaps: 3–5 mm

Views

Frog Perspective — Side — Bird’s Eye (Zenith) — Front. View geometry requires updated renders: existing visualizations show a long-span twisted bridge; the current design reduces this to a small connective module (B1, approx. 40 × 40 × 50 cm) at the point where the two bulbous masses meet. New renders should reflect this proportion at the corrected 450 × 225 × 240 cm scale.

Construction Details

1. Module Breakdown (11 Modules)

Two bulbous masses set close together, joined by a small connective module (B1) where they meet, supported by six legs of three distinct types. B1 is substantially reduced from earlier concept versions, which depicted a long structural bridge; it now reads as a compact, muscular knuckle rather than a separate spanning element.

  • B1 – Center Connective Mass: approx. 40 × 40 × 50 cm (W×D×H) — estimated from visual proportion; exact dimension pending maquette measurement [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]
  • L1 – Left Bulbous Front: 112.5 × 90 × 120 cm (X×Y×Z)
  • L2 – Left Bulbous Rear: 112.5 × 90 × 105 cm
  • R1 – Right Bulbous Front: 112.5 × 90 × 120 cm
  • R2 – Right Bulbous Rear: 112.5 × 90 × 105 cm
  • F1 – Front Cone Leg Left: base 60 × 60 cm, height 135 cm
  • F2 – Front Cone Leg Right: base 60 × 60 cm, height 135 cm
  • O1 – Outer Arch Leg Left: length 195 cm (curved arch)
  • O2 – Outer Arch Leg Right: length 217.5 cm (curved arch)
  • P1 – Rear Pillar Leg Left: height 150 cm (vertical pillar)
  • P2 – Rear Pillar Leg Right: height 150 cm (vertical pillar)

2. Materials

  • Internal Frame (Primary): Mild steel, 60 × 30 mm, 3 mm wall thickness
  • Internal Frame (Secondary): Mild steel, 15–20 mm, 2 mm wall thickness
  • Cladding: Bronze-resin composite, 4–6 mm thickness, cold-cast
  • Bronze Surface: Bronze powder in epoxy resin, ~70% bronze content by weight
  • Flange Plates: Steel, 3.75 mm thickness
  • Base Plates: Steel, 4.5 mm thickness
  • Fasteners: Stainless steel bolts, M8/M10
  • Finish: Matte black RAL 9005, applied over bronze-resin cladding, matte seal

3. Connections

Unchanged.

  • Type: Hidden internal flange system
  • Bolt visibility: Invisible from exterior
  • Shadow gap: 3–5 mm between modules
  • Access hatches: Underside for maintenance
  • Total bolts (module flange connections, gallery-scale verified): 44 — bolt size/count at monumental scale pending structural engineering review [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]

4. Floor Connection

  • Contact points: 6 legs (F1, F2, O1, O2, P1, P2)
  • F1/F2 base plates: approx. 70 × 70 cm, concrete anchor, scaled from verified gallery spec — final anchor count/torque pending engineering review [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]
  • O1/O2/P1/P2 base plates: approx. 60 × 60 cm, concrete anchor, scaled from verified gallery spec — final anchor count/torque pending engineering review [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]

Gallery Installation Guide

1. Preparation (Day 0, 2 hours)

Unchanged.

  • Clear gallery space to minimum 7 m × 5 m (footprint 450 × 225 cm plus clearance)
  • Protect floor with ram board or plywood
  • Verify ceiling height minimum 3.5 m (sculpture height 240 cm plus clearance)
  • Set up stepladders or small scaffolding for upper-module installation

2. Positioning

  • Unpack all modules — 11 modules in 3–4 crates at gallery scale; crating plan at monumental scale pending fabricator confirmation [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]
  • Position floor anchoring system (6 points)
  • Align with gallery axes

3. Assembly Sequence (3 days)

Sequence updated for the 11-module structure with reduced-scale B1.

  • Day 1: Install leg modules (F1, F2, O1, O2, P1, P2)
  • Day 2: Install bulbous mass modules (L1, L2, R1, R2) onto leg structure
  • Day 3: Install B1 connective module between L1 and R1; final flange connections, floor anchoring, alignment, and closure

4. Anchoring

  • Indoor: Secure each leg to base plate per floor connection specification above; ballast/strap method pending fabricator confirmation [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]
  • Outdoor: Concrete anchor per leg, per floor connection specification above — final anchor torque pending structural engineering review [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]
  • Stability test: Lateral push test — force threshold pending structural engineering review at monumental scale [PENDING — REQUIRES RECALCULATION]

5. Final Check

Unchanged in principle; figures updated for current module structure.

  • Check all shadow gaps (3–5 mm)
  • Verify overall alignment (450 × 225 cm footprint, centered)
  • Ensure no contact with walls
  • Close all access hatches

Important Notes

  • The sculpture is permanent. No inflation required.
  • No blower, no air tube, no emergency deflation procedures.
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.
  • Annual inspection required for outdoor versions.
